For over 20 years the Tallahassee Downtown Market has been a local tradition. The market kicks off each spring season in the beginning of March and continues through the month of November. Here Tallahssee locals and visitors gather to enjoy the amazing array of vendors the event attracts. Vendors can range anywhere from artists, crafters, food vendors and farmers along with live music performances throughout the day!
The Tallahassee Downtown Market kicks off every Saturday morning at 9AM. But, this market does not just open in silence, it has adopted the tradition of letting its shoppers know commerce is in the air with the sound of bagpipes! Local head piper Sean McGlynn leads the "Mercat March" every Saturday as merchants join in the rejoice to announce they are open for business.
There are few traditions that have been able to preserve the traditions of farmers markets, street vendors and artisans as well as the Tallahassee Downtown Market does while also bringing together friends and family in the beautiful parks of the city. So, stop by for 30 minutes or stay all day but either way it is garunteed not to disappoint!
